Ash Wednesday service February 17 at 7:00 p.m.
The observance of Lend begins on Wednesday, February 17. As we get closer to this date, prayer booklets will be available in the narthex of the church. A special service will be held Wednesday night, Ash Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. It will be a reflective time of prayer and reflection as the 40 days of Lent begin. Please consider being part of this special service.

Our Christmas Eve service will begin at 9 p.m. This family event will help all of us to have a blessed Christmas as we listen to and sing the hymns of the season, as well as participate in the telling of the story of Jesus’ birth.
All are welcome!

Joseph the carpenter, and the father of Jesus Christ, will visit our worship service and tell his story of how Jesus came into the world. You must hear what he has to say. It is a wonderful story. Don’t forget, on December 20, Joseph comes to Flora.

It hardly seems possible, but before we know it, the season of Advent will begin. In fact, the first Sunday of Advent is November 29. On that day, we will decorate the church during morning worship in a special service called The Hanging of the Greens. In order to prepare for that service, you are invited to come, with your family, to the church on November 8 from 2 to 4 to help make Chrismons. Chrismons are Christian symbols that we will use to decorate the Christmas tree in the church. All ages are welcomed to come and make these easy and interesting ornaments.
Get Your Advent Devotional
As we get closer to the season of Advent, you will want to pick up a copy of the Advent Devotional available in the rear entrance of the church. Each day you can read a scripture and a short devotion as we prepare for the birth of out Savior Christ.
Sundays in Advent this year:
• November 29 – First Sunday of Advent
• December 6 – Second Sunday of Advent
• December 13 – Third Sunday of Advent
• December 20 – Fourth Sunday of Advent

On Sunday, November 29 we will celebrate the decorating of the church by having a “Hanging of the Greens” service during morning worship.
During this time, we will hear about the reasons we decorate with certain items, light the first Advent candle, and begin our journey to Bethlehem as the star leads us. Each Sunday between then and Christmas we will light an additional candle, culminating with the lighting of the Christ Candle on Christmas Eve.
Don’t miss this great worship experience on November 29!
