This year’s Vacation Bible School really rocked! Its theme “SonRock Kids Camp” led children through the relationship of Jesus and what God has done for us as we are: Accepted by Jesus, Saved by Jesus, and Forgiven by Jesus that leads us to Live for Jesus. Sixty-one children were enrolled, with fifty adults and youth providing leadership and assistance. It takes numerous people, all with specific duties, to pull off an event of this size. We thank Teresa McGill who was director of the United VBS. Her team of adults and youth from FFCC included: Laura Myers, Rhonda Hicks, Miriam Robeson, Ben Pickens, Caitlin Pickens, Samantha Pickens, Cassandra Proffitt, Brian McGill, Michael Rosinski, Camille Rosinski, Carissa Hicks, Teri Larimore, Jessica Redmon, Autumn Filbrun, Nancy Hicks, Doug Winger, Vicki Winger and Dawn Clawson. The partner churches of United VBS are Cutler Presbyterian Church, Flora Presbyterian Church, and Flora First Christian Church.

July 20 – 24, 2008

This summer First Christian Church united with Flora Presbyterian Church and Cutler Presbyterian Church to sponsor VBS. Each evening the attendance grew, peaking on Thursday evening for a closing celebration with children, family and friends present to witness what the children had learned.

Thank You VBS Team!

It takes numerous people, commitment, creativity, faith and sometimes even a tad of duct tape to make a Vacation Bible School successful. Special thanks goes to the First Christian team who served supper and snacks, led songs, guided children from activity to activity, and who served in the nursery. Those from First Christian who served during VBS were: Chris Bridge, Bev Davenport, Stephanie Davenport, Lynda Durham, Teri Larimore, Teresa McGill, Miriam Robeson, Sandy Simpson, and Pastor Sam Davenport. Serving on the VBS planning committee, as representatives from First Christian Church, were: Teresa McGill and Dale Orem. Thanks gang, for a job well done!

Christian Foundations Class for Children and Youth

Category: Special Classes

This is an achived (past) event

This class met each Sunday from January 27 – March 2, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Mini-lockin Friday February 29, 6:00 – 11:00 p.m.

Each year pastors in our Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) all over the country offer special classes to children and youth who are exploring their personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. As your pastors have done in the past, I, too, will be leading such a class prior to Easter. I call this six week class Christian Foundations.

This six week class gives youth considering baptism and life in Christ the opportunity to explore through scripture:

  • Who is God?
  • Jesus Christ,
  • The Holy Spirit,
  • What’s the purpose of my life?

These are just a few of the questions we will be exploring. The class will meet on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. January 27 through March 2. Plans are being made for lunch to be provided.

Parents of youth planning to attend are asked to contact the church office at 967-4246 by January 18 so that adequate materials may be ordered.

Sam

P.S.

On Palm Sunday, March 16, 2008, Kylor, Mikayla, Bayleigh and Luke were baptized!
