The adult sunday school classes combined on October 16, 2011 to hear about RYAA (Ravenswood Youth Athletic Association).

Shannon and April Pekary from East Palo Alto, California, who started this ministry, spoke to us. Shannon is a cousin of Maurice Robeson’s.

RYAA began with a very successful recreational and competitive soccer program, and continues to expand its sports offerings. Sports is not the end-result, but a way to teach kids about Jesus and also teach them to become mentors and teachers themselves. About 700 kids are now involved in the program!

Shannon challenged us to find ways to reach out to those we don’t traditionally reach.
